Lamamra: UN Looks Forward to an Inclusive Political Process

Sudan’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation Mohi El-Din Salem Ahmed, received Ramtane Lamamra, the UN Secretary-General’s Special Envoy to Sudan, at his residence in the Presidential Palace in Addis Ababa on Wednesday. The meeting was attended by Al-Zein Ibrahim Hussein, Sudan’s Ambassador to Ethiopia,.
The two sides reviewed the latest developments in Sudan. The Foreign Minister listened to Special Envoy Lamamra’s perspective on the humanitarian situation resulting from the war and his unequivocal condemnation of the Rapid Support Forces’ attack on a humanitarian food convoy.
Lamamra expressed his full solidarity with the government and people of Sudan in their efforts to rebuild after returning to Khartoum, noting that the United Nations looks forward to the commencement of an inclusive political process.
For his part, the Foreign Minister reassured the Secretary-General’s envoy that the situation was moving in the right direction, and that efforts were being made for the security and stability of Sudan and the Sudanese people, stressing Sudan’s keenness to cooperate with the United Nations and its specialized agencies, especially since the Ministry of Foreign Affairs has taken on the role of the Ministry of International Cooperation, and announcing his determination to expand cooperation and joint work for reconstruction and stability.
