The Ministry of Health in Khartoum State on Saturday received two electricity generators, each with a capacity of 600 KVA, as a grant from the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, in partnership with the national organization Al-Kafaat for Studies and Human Development. The generators are intended to support Al-Buluk Children’s Hospital and the Saudi–Sudanese Maternity Hospital, as part of efforts to stabilize health services and ensure continuity of operations in medical facilities.
Dr. Ahmed Al-Bashir, Director of the General Administration of Curative Medicine and representative of the Director General of the Khartoum State Ministry of Health, affirmed that the delivery of the generators comes within ongoing efforts to strengthen health infrastructure. He praised the continuous support provided by the King Salman Center and its national partner to the health sector in the state, noting that the grant will help ensure uninterrupted services in vital departments, especially in light of the challenges facing health institutions.
For her part, Dr. Maha Hussein, Director General of Al-Buluk Children’s Hospital, stated that the generator represents a real addition to the hospital and will help stabilize power supply in sensitive departments, stressing that this will positively reflect on the quality of medical services provided to children.
In the same context, Dr. Safaa Ali Youssef, Director General of the Saudi–Sudanese Maternity Hospital, expressed her appreciation to the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center and the Khartoum State Ministry of Health. She affirmed that the generator will help secure medical services for mothers and newborns and ensure the safety of operations and emergency services, according to the Sudan News Agency.
Meanwhile, the King Salman Center has begun implementing a program to rehabilitate government hospitals in western Sudan, following the arrival of a shipment of modern medical equipment at Um Rawaba Teaching Hospital in North Kordofan State. The initiative aims to improve healthcare services and provide a safe and sustainable treatment environment.
The reception of the support convoy in Um Rawaba was attended by the locality’s executive director, the director of police, a representative of humanitarian aid, local leaders, and the general and medical directors along with medical staff of Um Rawaba Teaching Hospital. This followed the official launch of the program last Sunday in Port Sudan.
The King Salman Center’s support program includes rehabilitating government hospitals, establishing oxygen stations, water supply stations, and providing electricity generators for water facilities and hospitals, in addition to orphan care—forming part of an integrated humanitarian response addressing urgent health needs.
This support marks the beginning of a special program provided by the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, through the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, targeting the eight states of western Sudan. The program aims to strengthen health infrastructure and improve the quality of medical and treatment services for patients.
The initiative falls under the broader Sudan Hospital Rehabilitation Project, which has so far covered 18 hospitals across ten states, stretching from Wadi Halfa to Damazin, and from the three eastern states to Um Rawaba in the west, passing through River Nile, Khartoum, Al-Jazira, and White Nile states.
The project is implemented through the partner organization Al-Kafaat for Studies and Human Development, based on studies designed to ensure direct and sustainable impact, and through specialized programs that effectively enhance the health system and improve the quality of services provided to citizens.
