Khartoum State: Strict Implementation of Curfew

The Khartoum State Security Coordination Committee, in its regular meeting, Thursday, chaired by the Governor of Khartoum State, Ahmed Othman Hamza, stressed the need to strict adherence to the curfew, starting 11:00 PM.

The committee called on people to abide by the specified times, considering that compliance with security measures is essential for maintaining stability and enhancing public safety.

The committee directed the reinforcement of security forces operating at the Shirian Shamal Crossing on the border between Khartoum and Northern States to tighten control over crossings and inhibit illegal activities.

It also directed the intensification of security cordons throughout the state, given their proven effectiveness in reducing crime and apprehending numerous lawbreakers and addressing negative phenomena.

The meeting reviewed the crime situation in the state, which witnessed stability and a decrease in crime rates during the current week.

Police stations recorded 3,787 reports, most of which were related to financial crimes. The joint patrol force also managed to open (664) reports against (1324) defendants, including (25) foreigners violating residency laws, in addition to seizing (35) motorcycles used in committing crimes, along with light weapons and quantities of various types of drugs.

The committee commended the significant efforts exerted by the police, which resulted in the arrest of a number of defendants involved in (10) reports related to robberies targeting owners of motorized vehicles.

Regarding traffic safety, the report indicated a decrease in traffic accidents, with the traffic police recording (75) accidents compared to (81) during the previous week. Intensive field campaigns were also conducted to ensure the safety of vehicles and drivers, resulting in the seizure of two vehicles with forged documents, (7) stolen vehicles, and (3) dismantled vehicles, for which legal action was taken.

On the security front, the state security cell conducted 35 security operations, resulting in the arrest of 46 individuals accused of collaborating with the militia. The state security authority also carried out 13 security operations, during which it apprehended dormant cells working for the insurgency and seized a number of light weapons and quantities of copper intended for smuggling.

Furthermore, the traffic police dismantled a network specializing in forging vehicle ownership documents and driver’s licenses, seizing sophisticated equipment used in the forgery operations. The necessary legal measures were taken against those involved.
