The Higher Committee for Emergency and Crisis Management, in its meeting on Thursday chaired by the Governor of Khartoum, Ahmed Osman Hamza, reviewed the health situation and the arrangements for public services.
Health reports on the epidemiological situation confirmed a decrease in dengue fever cases, against a slight increase in malaria cases.
The meeting listened to report from the Acting Minister of Health, Dr. Fath Al-Rahman Mohamed Al-Amin, who presented statistics on the total number of health centers in the state. There are 282 health centers, of which 244 are operational, while 38 require rehabilitation. These 38 centers have been included in the Higher Committee’s plan to prepare the general environment for the return of citizens to Khartoum State by rehabilitating health facilities.
The meeting directed the implementation of an urgent campaign to combat disease vectors in the Bahri and East Nile localities in the coming days.
The meeting also received a briefing on water and electricity supplies and commended the efforts exerted in both sectors, leading to improved supply and increased electricity coverage following the commissioning of several new power stations, the rehabilitation of transmission lines, and the installation of transformers.
The meeting directed the continuation of road maintenance and cleaning, the removal of irregular bodies and violations, and urged local authorities to work on rehabilitating public parks.
The governor presented the state’s vision for the Independence Day celebrations, emphasizing that the festivities would reflect national issues, rally support for the struggle for dignity, and elevate the nation’s standing.
On the other hand the Governor of Khartoum and members of the Emergency Committee inspected a model of a project to provide tea vendors with sales outlets built to environmental standards and improve the appearance of public spaces.
