JEM Denies Moving Forces Towards Khartoum
Khartoum – Sudanhorizon
The Sudanese Justice and Equality Movement (JEM) has denied reports claiming it has moved its forces from some battlefronts towards the capital, Khartoum. JEM described the reports as part of a systematic disinformation media campaign orchestrated by certain circles with narrow agendas, aimed at tarnishing the movement’s image.
In a statement issued Thursday and received by Sudanhorizon news website, the movement’s official spokesperson, Dr. Mohamed Zakaria, affirmed that these claims are completely unfounded. He stated that JEM forces are fully committed to the directives of the Sudanese Armed Forces Command and operate within the framework of national military coordination in the battle to defend the country. He emphasized that no forces could be moved towards Khartoum except by order from the Armed Forces Command.
The statement added, “The aim of these rumors is to incite public opinion, weaken the home front, and attempt to undermine national unity at a time that demands the highest levels of cohesion and coordination to confront and defeat the militias.”
The JEM spokesperson has noted that the media campaign also targets “the movement’s leader in his capacity as Minister of Finance, through the dissemination of misleading reports and fabricated news, in a clear context reflecting narrow agendas that do not serve the national interest.”
The movement’s statement concluded by calling on “the Sudanese people and the media to disregard these malicious campaigns and to verify information from official sources.”
The statement also called on “all national forces and entities to rise to the level of the challenges facing the country and to unite their efforts and ranks in the battle for national dignity, instead of being preoccupied with smearing campaigns that serve the enemies of the nation.”
