Investment Commissioner:No Foreign Investment Has Left Sudan Since the War Outbreak

The Sudanese Commissioner General of the National Investment Authority, Nour Al-Daem Babiker, has revealed that no foreign investment has left Sudan since the outbreak of the war.
In an exclusive statement to sudanhorizon, Babiker said that “no national or foreign investor has left the country, and there has been no decline in investments despite the war.”
Babiker announced that the Authority issued 2,000 investment transactions this year, compared to 1,000 last year.
He confirmed that the total number of investment transactions issued since the beginning of the war has reached 10,000.
Babiker described the investment climate in Sudan as “excellent,” attributing this to the package of reform measures implemented by the National Investment Authority during the past period. He explained that the Authority made administrative and legislative amendments, anticipating a greater recovery in investment, especially with the start of the recovery phase the country is currently witnessing.

He pointed out that the agency provides services that meet the aspirations of both domestic and foreign investors, through the advantages granted by the Investment Law. He emphasized the principle of equality between parties and announced the cancellation of all investment licenses and approvals lacking a clear legal basis. He also announced the elimination of multiple fees, consolidating them into a single fee payable electronically through the One-Window system.
Babiker noted that the agency offers investors several guarantees, most notably the prohibition of nationalization, confiscation, and administrative seizure of investment projects except by a final court ruling, with immediate compensation at the market rate. He also affirmed the freedom for investors to transfer their profits and capital abroad without limits and without prior authorization from the Central Bank of Sudan.
