IGAD Secretary General Congratulates Djibouti’s Foreign Minister on His Election as African Union Chair

The Executive Secretary of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD), Workneh Gebeyehu, congratulated Djibouti’s Foreign Minister, Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, on his election as Chair of the African Union during the 38th Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the African Union.
In a post on platform X, which Sudanhorizon obtained, Workneh wrote: “I congratulate my brother, His Excellency Mahmoud Ali Youssouf, on your election as Chair of the African Union during the 38th Summit of the Heads of State and Government of the African Union! This is a strong affirmation of the trust African heads of state and governments placed in you. Your leadership is critical for our continent as we face challenges in peace, security, and continental integration. I look forward to working closely with you to enhance regional stability and accelerate the agenda of African integration.”
