IGAD: Reaffirms Support for Sudan’s Integrity and National Institutions

The Executive Secretariat of the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD) issued a statement on Thursday condemning “all forms of violations committed by the Rapid Support Forces” and reaffirming its full support for Sudan’s unity, sovereignty, and the integrity of its existing national institutions.

IGAD welcomed the Sudanese national initiative for peace and stability in the country, which was presented by the Prime Minister to the Executive Secretary of the authority, and reiterated its readiness to welcome Sudan back into its institutional framework.

The IGAD statement came following a meeting on Wednesday between the Executive Secretary of IGAD, Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu, and Prime Minister Dr. Kamil Idriss during the latter’s visit to Djibouti, where they discussed developments in Sudan.
