High-Level Sudanese Saudi Meeting on the Sidelines of the Human Rights Council Sessions

Dr. Abdullah Mohammed Darf, Minister of Justice and head of the Sudanese delegation to the high-level meeting of the Human Rights Council, met with Dr. Hala bint Mazyad Al-Tuwaijri, head of the Saudi delegation and Chair of the Saudi Human Rights Commission, on the sidelines of their participation in the 61st session of the Human Rights Council in Geneva.
During the meeting, the delegations discussed opportunities for cooperation and coordination between the two countries in international forums, within the framework of the developing fraternal relations that bind the two nations.
The Minister of Justice praised Saudi contributions aimed at finding a way out of the current crisis in Sudan, and its assistance in the field of humanitarian response.
He briefed the meeting on the situation in Sudan and the human rights issues, particularly the efforts of the judicial authorities to establish justice, the rule of law, accountability, combat impunity, protect civilians, and address violations and abuses of human rights and international humanitarian law.
For her part, the head of the Saudi Human Rights Commission commended the strong and historic relations between the two countries and their sister peoples, emphasizing the Saudi commitment to exert every possible effort to help Sudan overcome its current crisis and return to normalcy.
The Saudi official She also expressed particular solidarity with the women and girls of Sudan, as they are being targeted by the rebel Rapid Support Forces militias.
The meeting was also attended by the Sudanese Minister of State for Human Resources and Social Development, Salima Ishaq Al-Khalifa, the permanent representatives of both countries to Geneva, and members of their respective delegations.
