Gezira State Prioritizes Education, Receives Support from UNICEF

The Governor of Gezira State, Al-Tahir Ibrahim Al-Khair, inaugurated this morning (Monday) in Wad Madani the distribution of 6,000 three-piece school desks for primary schools, 1,020 school bags, 1,074 preschool bags, and 552 children’s toys, with support from the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) and the Sulh Al-Khair Organization.

The Governor announced the approval of 5,000 new jobs and the rehabilitation of all schools by 2026, as well as a doubling of efforts to separate intermediate and primary school classes. He reiterated his commitment to continuing to support education and providing all its needs, praising the efforts of the state’s expatriates, philanthropists, and national and international organizations in supporting education projects.

For his part, the Director General of the State Ministry of Education, Abdullah Abu Al-Karam, announced the state government’s commitment to education issues, emphasizing that school desks are a fundamental component in the recovery of the educational process.

Meanwhile, Professor Atef Mohamed Ibrahim Abu Shouk, Minister of Finance, Economy, and Manpower, affirmed the state government’s commitment to the educational process to keep pace with changes and the aspirations of the state’s residents. He noted the federal Ministry of Finance’s commitment to supporting school seating with 300 million pounds and commended UNICEF’s interventions in the health and education sectors.
