Geology Authority: 2026 Will Be a Year of Strategic Projects

The Director-General of the Geological Research Authority, Consultant Geologist Ahmed Haroun Al-Tom, affirmed that 2026 will be a year of high-impact, strategic projects in the mining sector, through strengthening exploration pathways and laying the foundations for safe, sustainable, and environmentally friendly mining.
Al-Tom explained that the Authority’s plan aims to conduct a comprehensive geological and geochemical survey across all Sudanese states to produce complete mineral and investment maps that support the national economy and highlight the diversity of the resources and raw materials Sudan possesses.
He added that the Authority is prioritising energy minerals in line with increasing global demand, while also focusing on industrial minerals to support reconstruction and development projects.
The Director-General also praised the outstanding performance of the geologists who presented an integrated scientific briefing on the mineral resources of the Northern State, including precious metals and energy minerals.
