Comprehensive Search for Minerals in the River Nile State

Damar – Sudahorizon
The Director General of the General Authority for Geological Research, Ahmed Haroun Al-Toumi, has directed that a comprehensive survey of industrial mineral sites in River Nile State be carried out promptly.
The procedures for receiving and registering these sites as production projects under the Authority’s jurisdiction be completed, paving the way for investment partnerships with local and international entities, he said
During his visit on Tuesday to the Authority’s River Nile State offices, Al-Toumi affirmed the Authority’s support for production projects related to iron ore, manganese, white sand, and mica. He indicated that these projects will undergo detailed studies this year to assess their reserves and economic feasibility as a crucial step before moving to the commercial production phase.
For his part, the Director of the Authority’s River Nile State office, Mohamed Taher Abdel Aziz, announced a proposal to sign a memorandum of understanding between the Authority’s office and the state’s Ministry of Investment.
The aim is to regulate operations in the mining sector and avoid administrative and technical overlaps that hinder mining projects.
Abdul Aziz revealed that the office’s plan aims to bring at least two of the six planned production projects into operation. He explained that the focus will be on iron ore, manganese, white sand, and mica, given their connection to the field training programs conducted in the Bayuda Desert, where these resources are found in promising quantities.

He added that the office has committed to conducting detailed studies to determine the size of the reserves and the economic value of the raw materials, enabling the initiation of practical steps this year to pave the way for transition to production.
