A responsible diplomatic source has stated that the specialized committee formed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs to assess the current condition of the Ministry’s headquarters in Khartoum and assess the requirements for necessary repairs in preparation for the Ministry to resume its work there has already begun its work.
The source confirmed, in a statement to the Sudanhorizon news website, that the committee, headed by Ambassador Khaled Abbas, made an official visit to the Ministry’s headquarters in Khartoum and that it will submit its recommendations to the Minister regarding the situation at the Ministry, recommendations regarding the type of maintenance, and an assessment of the damage caused to the building by the rebel Rapid Support Forces militia.
The source noted that, based on the committee’s findings, it will set a date for the relocation to Khartoum after ensuring that the minimum operational requirements are met.
It’s worth noting that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced its intention to resume operations from its main headquarters in Khartoum, becoming the first ministry to do so following the armed forces’ liberation of Khartoum State from the Rapid Support Forces militia. The ministry had operated from its alternate headquarters in Port Sudan for two years.
