Foreign Ministry Criticizes the ALPS Group’s statement; Saying it Ignores Reality

The Sudanese Foreign Ministry stated that the statement issued by the ALPS Group on Wednesday regarding the situation in Sudan “included inaccurate information and lacked context regarding the reality of the situation in Sudan and the role played by the Sudanese government to deliver relief to those in need and affected throughout Sudan, in cooperation between state institutions and humanitarian relief organizations operating there.”
The Foreign Ministry expressed Sudan’s deep concern regarding the group’s statement, which it described as “referring to the obstruction of relief operations and the obstruction of convoys to the affected areas, without mentioning that the Rapid Support Forces militia is targeting these convoys and besieging civilians in several areas in Kordofan and Darfur.”
The Foreign Ministry continued, saying that the group’s statement “ignored the militia’s siege of El Fasher, in complete disregard of UN Security Council resolutions and repeated appeals from regional organizations. It also ignored the terrorist militia’s targeting of infrastructure and service facilities, endangering the lives of citizens due to hunger, thirst, and disease. This comes at a time when the Government of Sudan is making strenuous efforts to restore essential services and secure the areas, facilitating the voluntary return of citizens to their homes and enabling them to resume normal lives.”
The Government of Sudan declared that it does not accept the statement’s assertion that the government and its constitutional institutions are equated with a terrorist militia whose rebellion has been witnessed worldwide and whose crimes and grave violations against the Sudanese people have been documented. It also does not accept dictates from any party that does not respect its sovereignty over its territory and its freedom to take whatever action is dictated by the supreme national interest, supported by its people.
The government affirmed its readiness to work and coordinate with all governments and international and regional organizations that respect the national sovereignty of the Sudanese government and recognize its full right to exercise its constitutional rights, in order to preserve the resources of the Sudanese people and establish security and stability throughout Sudan.
