Foreign Minister to Guterres’ Envoy: Any Solution with the Militia Must be Based on the Jeddah Agreement

Foreign Minister Ambassador Ali Youssef Ahmed Al-Sharif received in his office in Port Sudan (Saturday) Ramtane Lamamra, the Personal Envoy of the Secretary-General of the United Nations to Sudan and his accompanying delegation who arrived on a visit to the country.
The Foreign Minister conveyed the Government of Sudan’s condolences to the Secretary-General of the United Nations through his Personal Envoy for the victims of the World Food Program in the Yabus area and stressed Sudan’s condemnation of all forms of attacks on humanitarian workers.
Al-Sharif explained the developments in the events and the serious violations committed by the rebel militia against unarmed civilians, stressing the cooperation of the Government of Sudan with the United Nations to work together, and that any process for a peaceful solution must be based on the implementation of the Jeddah Declaration signed on May 11, 2023.
For his part, Ramtane Lamamra stated that his visit is the fourth to Sudan this year, preceded by many visits and regional tours to reach a peaceful solution to the war in Sudan, and the two sides agreed to continue cooperation, coordination and constructive consultation. It is noteworthy that Lamamra participated four days ago in the consultative meeting hosted by the Mauritanian capital, Nouakchott, which included all international and regional parties involved in the Sudanese file.
