Foreign Minister Comments Relationship with the US

Foreign Minister Dr. Ali Youssef stressed Sudan’s keenness to establish good relations with the United States of America and said in a special statement to the Sudanhorizon news website that they are waiting for the new US administration to start its work after its formation is complete, stressing the keenness to establish balanced international relations.

In a related context, Dr. Ali Youssef expressed his happiness with Russia’s use of the veto in the UN Security Council in favor of Sudan, adding that the Russian move comes within the framework of the growing cooperation between the two countries.

On another level, the Minister revealed the formation of committees in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs related to performance evaluation. He told Sudanhorizon that the committees would work to evaluate and monitor performance in the Ministry’s presidency and missions abroad, noting that transfers and promotions will take place during the coming period according to the evaluation results that the committees produce.

Regarding what was recently raised regarding the summoning of some ambassadors, the Minister said that this will be done according to the work of the committees and he confirmed that the routine procedures in the Ministry, from promotions and transfers, will be carried out according to the institutional basis based on evaluation.
