Sudan’s Finance Minister Gibril Ibrahim has stressed the importance of international support for the government’s efforts to confront the devastating consequences of the war on citizens, their livelihoods, and the environment necessary for a dignified life.
During a meeting on Thursday at the ministry complex with Richard Crowder, Head of the UK Office in Sudan and the UK’s Special Representative, the minister provided a detailed briefing on the government’s ongoing efforts to safeguard the lives, security, and health of citizens, while striving to achieve peace and socio-economic stability leading to balanced development.
The discussions also touched on opening humanitarian corridors to deliver aid to towns and areas besieged by the rebel militia, in order to save the lives of thousands of civilians.
Both sides highlighted the importance of the international community taking an active role in ensuring humanitarian assistance and relief reaches those affected by the war across the country.
