Khartoum – Sudanhorizon

The Minister of Finance, Dr. Jibril Ibrahim, affirmed the Sudanese government’s commitment to strengthening economic cooperation with the Republic of Algeria and advancing it to broader horizons, building on the deep-rooted historical ties between the two countries. He also praised Algeria’s distinguished stance toward Sudan.

During a meeting held today (Wednesday) at the ministry’s headquarters in Khartoum, the minister received Ambassador Abdelhafiz Al-Awad Sayed Ahmed, who has been appointed as Sudan’s ambassador to Algeria. He provided guidance and directives on enhancing economic and financial cooperation with Algeria, including the possibility of establishing a maritime transport line linking the two countries to activate trade exchange. This, he noted, would serve the economic interests of both nations and maximize the benefits of Sudan’s promising productive sectors through partnerships that could benefit the entire region.

A press release issued by the Ministry of Finance’s media office indicated that discussions also covered opportunities to benefit from Algeria’s capabilities in the gas and petroleum sectors, as well as drawing on its expertise in training Sudanese personnel in these fields.
