EU: Rapid Support Forces Committed War Crime in Kulugie

Sudanhorizon – Agencies
The European Union has strongly condemned the attack on the city of Kulugie in South Kordofan State, carried out by the Rapid Support Forces militia, resulteing in dozens of casualties, mostly children.

The EU Commissioner for Crisis Management, Haja Lahbib, stated that what happened in Kulugie “constitutes a clear war crime,” emphasizing that targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure is strictly prohibited under international humanitarian law.

Lahbib added that the excessive violence against the population requires urgent accountability, calling on all parties to the conflict to respect their legal obligations and protect civilians.

The director of the Kulugie locality was quoted by Al Jazeera as saying that the death toll from the Rapid Support Forces’ bombing had risen to 80, including 46 children, amidst ongoing fighting in the Kordofan states and UN warnings of a catastrophic deterioration in the humanitarian situation.
