Eritrean Naval Units Visit Sudan Amid Official Welcome

The Sudanese Navy received today, (Friday), units of the Eritrean Navy, and the Eritrean delegation was received by senior leaders of the Sudanese Navy, according to a press release published by the office of the official spokesman for the Sudanese Armed Forces.

According to the release, the head of the Eritrean delegation confirmed that the visit comes “in accordance with the directives of President Isaias Afwerki, to confirm the Eritrean leadership’s stand with the brotherly Sudanese people in these circumstances that the country is going through, and to consolidate the solid relations between the two brotherly countries.”

It should be noted that, Last week, the Eritrean authorities declared the Sudanese Chargé d’Affaires in Asmara an undesirable person, and the Sudanese Foreign Ministry said that it was awaiting clarifications from the Eritrean leadership regarding the reasons for the Chargé d’Affaires’ deportation.
