Energy Ministry Resumes Work from Khartoum, Urges Staff to Double Their Efforts

The Ministry of Energy and Oil on Sunday inaugurated the resumption of work from its main headquarters in Khartoum, in the presence of the Minister, Engineer and Advisor Al-Mu‘tasim Ibrahim Ahmed, Member of the Steering Committee for the Ministry’s Undersecretary, Engineer Al-Sadiq Jaber, along with a number of directors of general and specialized departments, heads of sections, and a large number of ministry employees.

The Minister and the Undersecretary toured the various departments, inspecting the workflow and reassuring themselves of staff attendance. The Minister called on employees to join forces and work with high morale to advance the nation, expressing his happiness at meeting staff in their workplace after the war, and pledging to resolve the problems facing employees as a result of the return.

The Minister noted that his decision to cancel the increase in electricity prices came out of consideration for the conditions citizens are experiencing due to the war. He also urged employees to contribute to rehabilitating the ministry so that it returns to its normal state.

The Minister revealed the ministry’s plan for the current year in the oil sector, stating that it includes offering investments in safe states, describing the fields there as promising. The plan also includes efforts to restore operations at the Heglig field.

He pointed to the ministry’s efforts through the electricity sector, which has made significant efforts in Khartoum to rehabilitate power stations and provide cables and transformers despite difficult circumstances, bringing good news to citizens of a near resolution to electricity problems across all sectors.

For his part, Dr. Abdel-Rafi‘ Babiker, Secretary-General of the Workers’ Union at the Sudanese Petroleum Corporation, affirmed the union’s readiness to cooperate with the administration to increase production and rebuild what was destroyed by the war. He said the current phase requires collective effort and selflessness so that the oil sector can once again lead the engine of the national economy. He wished the country progress and victory for the armed forces.
