Egyptian Lady Wins Journalism Award for Covering Sudan War

Egyptian journalist Samar Ibrahim, a specialist in Sudanese affairs, has won the Mohamed Issa El-Sharkawy Award for Foreign Coverage in the Egyptian Press Awards – Mahmoud Awad Edition 2025.

Samar received the award for her series of reports covering the war in Sudan.

Last year, she traveled to Sudan and published a series of in-depth articles documenting the impact of the conflict between the Sudanese army and the Rapid Support Forces militia.

The Egyptian Journalists Syndicate first announced the establishment of the annual award in 2014, in honor of the prominent Egyptian writer Mohamed Issa El-Sharkawy and his distinguished contributions to Egyptian journalism.
