Egyptian Foreign Minister Calls for Efficient Humanitarian Track

The Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdel-Aty has stressed the need for “launching an effective humanitarian track that guarantees the unhindered delivery of aid, in parallel with increasing relief support and strengthening cooperation with the United Nations, the African Union, and relief agencies.”
The minister has underlined “ the importance of concerted regional and international efforts to support a comprehensive ceasefire and create the conditions for launching an inclusive political process that meets the aspirations of the Sudanese people for security, stability, and development.”
A statement issued by the Egypian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Immigration, and Egyptian Expatriates Affairs on Monday said Minister Abdel-Aty, during a phone call with his Sudanese counterpart, Mohi El-Din Salem, has emphasized “the importance of the full implementation of the Quartet’s statement in its entirety, and the need to push for a permanent and comprehensive ceasefire that guarantees the protection of the unity of the Sudanese state and its national institutions, while continuing close consultations between Egypt and Sudan as downstream countries in defending water rights and the interests of both peoples.”
The statement added that the phone call between the two ministers dwelt on the results of Abdel-Aty’s visit to Port Sudan on November 11, and ways to support efforts aimed at reaching a comprehensive settlement to the Sudanese crisis.
The minister stressed Egypt’s unwavering support for the unity of Sudan, its territorial integrity, and the preservation of its national institutions, affirming Egypt’s complete rejection of any attempts to divide the country or undermine its stability.
Minister Abdel-Aati also renewed his condemnation of the horrific atrocities and violations that the city of El Fasher recently witnessed, stressing Egypt’s full solidarity with the Sudanese people at this critical stage, and its support for the Government of Hope led by Dr. Kamel Idris.
