Doctors Network: RSF Detain 29 Girls and 73 Women in Al-Mujlad Under Harsh Conditions
Khartoum – Sudanhorizon
The Sudanese Doctors Network (SDN) has reported that the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militias are detaining 29 girls and 73 women in the city of Al-Mujlad under extremely harsh conditions.
In a statement released Thursday, the network explained that the detainees were forcibly displaced after the Rapid Support Forces stormed Babanusa, under the pretext that their relatives belonged to the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF).
The network stated that the detainees are living in extremely poor humanitarian conditions, lacking even the most basic healthcare, food, and psychological support.
The network emphasized that the detention of civilian women and children constitutes a flagrant violation of international humanitarian law and all conventions that prohibit targeting civilians or using them as a means of coercion during armed conflicts.
It also exposes the detainees to serious health risks, especially given the lack of medical services and the spread of epidemics.
The Sudanese Doctors Network held RSF leadership fully responsible for the safety of the detained women, demanding their immediate and unconditional release and guarantees of their safe passage to their families. They also called for humanitarian and medical organizations to be granted urgent access to provide them with necessary care.
The Network further appealed to the UN and international and regional organizations to assume their responsibilities and pressure the RSF leadership to cease these violations and provide protection for civilians, especially women and children.
