Diplomatic Landmines and Constitutional Legitimacy

By Dr. Hassan Issa Al-Talib
As the dawn of victory, sealed with pure blood and brave sacrifices, breaks upon the people of Sudan, discordant voices—silent during the hardship—now emerge, seeking to deter the army, which stands resolutely with its people across all affiliations. Fearless in its mission to liberate the nation, the army does not shy away from death in pursuit of dignity, honour, and the defence of its history, values, and heritage.
It is now evident to all that the Sudanese people have overcome fear, intimidation, deception, and false promises. They will no longer allow any external interference in their sovereign decisions nor accept dictated roadmaps for how they should live or govern themselves. They have been displaced, murdered, and plundered while some of their misguided brethren sought refuge beyond Sudan’s borders, only to be turned away, rejected, and even forcefully expelled from several countries, denied even the status of refugees.
For two years, many have merely watched as Sudan suffered under the weight of its tragedy. The immense burden of calamity was met with indifference. Now, it is imperative for General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, as Chairman of the Sovereignty Council and Head of State, to decisively and responsibly eliminate the remaining pockets of treachery and mercenarism. Every inch of Sudan must be cleansed of foreign agents and opportunists. Urgent action is needed to form a task-oriented government to facilitate the return of displaced persons and refugees, kickstart reconstruction, and restore normalcy. This effort must be supported by the brotherly nations that stood by Sudan in its time of hardship—Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Egypt, Eritrea, and others who extended their hand in goodwill and deserve Sudan’s gratitude in return.
The Imperative of Constitutional Legitimacy
Transitioning to constitutional legitimacy is a political necessity and a constitutional and practical inevitability. This transition must be achieved through broad-based public consultation, ensuring maximum consensus and paving the way for free, fair, and transparent elections.
Any deviation from the noble objectives set forth by the Sudanese people, falling into the trap of deceptive foreign schemes wrapped in false hope and diplomatic deceit, constitutes an act of betrayal. The so-called “international community” deploys diplomatic landmines with cunning precision, aiming to obstruct Sudan’s imminent victory and undermine its progress. Those who succumb to these traps are, without question, betraying the Sudanese people, their history, and their monumental sacrifices.
Engaging with foreign powers that seek to manipulate Sudan’s fate serves only to recycle the agendas of militia backers under new disguises. These are the same old tricks, repeated time and again.
Lessons Learned from Two Years of War
The past two years have been a harsh but enlightening experience. The realities of imposed war, as recorded in history and liberation struggles, reveal enduring lessons that apply to Sudan and the broader regional and global landscape.
Through these trials, Sudanese resilience is forged, and through unwavering determination, the nation will reclaim its rightful path. Sudan’s future lies in the hands of its people, free from external impositions and unwavering in the pursuit of sovereignty and self-determination.
