Democratic Bloc to Develop Comprehensive Vision for the Sudanese Dialogue

The Democratic Bloc has agreed to develop a comprehensive vision for the Sudanese dialogue, following two days of consultations held in Port Sudan, in which leaders and heads of the bloc’s organizations took part.
According to the final statement issued Monday evening and signed by official spokesperson Mohamed Zakaria Farajallah, the workshop concluded that the Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue is the best way to end the crisis and viewed it as the genuine solution if carried out with a purely national will.
The bloc’s vision for the dialogue is based on two tracks: a political track, with the participation of civilians, and a security track, based on the Jeddah Declaration issued in May 2023.
The dialogue will be open to all Sudanese, with the exception of those accused of war crimes or genocide.
The Democratic Bloc affirmed in its statement that the principle of Sudanese ownership of the dialogue necessarily requires that the steering of the dialogue process itself be a purely Sudanese affair, free from any external tutelage or interference.
It added that based on this foundation, the bloc calls for the formation of a comprehensive preparatory committee representing the entire national spectrum, to undertake the preparation and organization of the Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue in a manner that ensures transparency, balance, and full national ownership of the political process.
The bloc has called for unifying international initiatives under the umbrella of the African Union, ensuring that efforts are not dispersed and conflicting paths are avoided. It commended the effective role of Egypt and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in supporting peace and stability efforts in Sudan, as well as all the countries that have supported the Sudanese people.
It believed that the international community’s role should be confined to technical support and facilitation to ensure that the dialogue reflects the free will of Sudan
