Darfuri Associations in UK Condemn International Community’s Inaction Towards RSF

London – Sudanhorizon

The Darfur Associations in the UK have condemned the silence of the international community, particularly the Security Council, regarding the horrific crimes perpetrated by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia.

The Association also called on the UK authorities to take concrete action regarding the scandal revealed by the Guardian’s investigative report, which showed the involvement of UK-based companies in recruiting Colombian mercenaries to fight alongside the RSF in El Fasher.

The Darfur Associations UK issued a press release today (Sunday) stating that it “draws the attention of British and international public opinion to the serious and alarming findings revealed in an investigative report published by the British newspaper The Guardian on Friday, December 19, 2025, by journalist Mark Townsend.

The report established the direct role of Colombian mercenaries in the fall of El Fasher and the involvement of UK-registered companies in recruiting and financing these mercenaries.”

The association considers this “one of the most serious scandals to date, as it reveals how British soil has been used as a cover for transnational networks implicated in war crimes and genocide in Sudan.”

The statement added that the group “condemns in the strongest terms the suspicious silence and clear complicity of the international community, particularly the United Kingdom, regarding the ongoing genocide in Sudan.

For over two years, mass atrocities have been committed in full view of the world, with the direct and indirect involvement of regional and international powers, foremost among them the United Arab Emirates, which has been given free rein to build a global network of mercenaries providing funding, political cover, weapons, and logistical support for the continuation of the genocide, which has led to the slaughter of tens of thousands of innocent civilians, including relatives of British citizens residing in the United Kingdom.”

The Darfur Associations Coalition in the UK stressed in its statement that “the silence of the UN Security Council, and the failure of the UK, as the Council’s pen-holder on Sudan, to implement Resolution 2736 for over a year, despite the ongoing genocide, along with the removal of the potential genocide in Sudan from British Foreign Office reports, the transfer of British weapons and military equipment to the Rapid Support Forces militia, and the operation of Colombian mercenaries from British soil, reveal the clear complicity of major powers in genocide in Sudan.”

The statement expressed the concern of the people of Darfur regarding the findings of the Guardian investigation, which proved “direct links between the recruitment of mercenaries and the addresses of companies registered in London, which were used as legal fronts for managing funds and payrolls, even though those responsible are subject to US sanctions for their role in fueling the war in Sudan.”

The statement considered that “the use of companies registered in the UK to facilitate these international crimes constitutes a major legal and moral scandal and raises serious questions about the effectiveness of regulatory oversight in the UK.”
