Wad Madani – Sudanhorizon

The Governor of the Darfur region, Minni Arko Minawi, has revealed that the Sudanese Army Forces(SAF) and the Joint Forces of the Movements have advanced towards the Wad Madani, capital of Gezirah state, central Sudan, to flush out the Rapid Support militia.

Minawi has said in a tweet in his official account “We value the sacrifices that our heroes stationed on the front lines are making, and we are proud in our righteous martyrs and our brave wounded. We are announcing good news for our steadfast people that victory is nearing, and that hope is on the horizon. Together we will rebuild our homeland and achieve peace and stability.”

A week ago, the forces were able to control Umm Al-Qura locality in Al-Gezirah state, and also penetrated towards the eastern gate of the Wad Madani, its capital.

These forces have encircled the city from the western side after the advance of the forces coming from the Al-Manaqil axis, and from the south after the advance of the forces coming from Sinnar State.

According to field sources, the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) are about 20 kilometers away from downtown Wad Madani.
