Darfur Deputy Governor: 28 Killed, 39 Wounded in Mustariha
Cairo – Sudanhorizon – Sabah Moussa
The Deputy Governor of Darfur Region and Governor of Central Darfur State, Mustafa Tambour, has stressed that the events in the Mustariha area of Musa Hilal’s territory constituted a “treacherous attack” carried out by the rebel Rapid Support Forces militia.
He revealed that the attack resulted in the deaths of 28 civilians and injuries to 39 others, in addition to the displacement of more than 2,690 citizens to unknown locations.
In an exclusive statement to Sudanhorizon, Tambour asserted that the incident constitutes a “full-fledged war crime” that demands global action and legal measures against the militia. He stated that the militia’s ideology is now based on targeting civilians in their home areas and during their displacement.
He emphasized that the attack is unacceptable and condemned by all languages, calling on the international community to intervene immediately to provide relief to the victims and impose restrictions on the militia. He further alleged that the militia receives various forms of support from the UAE and other countries, with the aim of dismantling Sudan, destroying its infrastructure, and tearing apart its social fabric.
In a related context, Tambour pointed to the appearance of Rapid Support Forces militia leader Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo “Hemedti” in the Ugandan capital, Kampala, considering this presence to be “worthless, insignificant, and changes nothing.” He described it as a “desperate attempt” to regroup his retreating forces in Kordofan and elsewhere. He also accused Uganda of committing a “historic mistake” by receiving Hemedti, in violation of international treaties and norms that criminalize receiving militia leaders accused of committing serious violations against civilians. He stressed that Hemedti is heading towards collapse and will not be able to implement any plan aimed at dividing or dismantling Sudan.
