Burhan Inspects Khartoum Airport and Vows to Crush the Rebellion

Sudan’s Chairman of the Sovereign Council, Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, renewed his welcome for peace based on firm national foundations and stressed his rejection of any role for “mercenary militias” and those who supported them in Sudan’s future.

Burhan said in a statement after reviewing conditions at Khartoum Airport today, Tuesday, that these principles should be observed in any proposed initiative, adding, “Our position is clear and we will not favor anyone in this regard.”

According to a statement from the Armed Forces spokesman’s office, Burhan praised the Sudanese people and their steadfastness in the face of “the crimes of the terrorist Al-Dagalo militia.”

He said that the enemies of the people had not read history because they are interlopers on Sudan and its people, and that Sudanese soil is a land of glory, adding, “We will restore that glory.”

Burhan’s visit to the airport came hours after ground defenses foiled drone attacks targeting the vital facility, which is preparing to resume receiving domestic flights starting tomorrow, Wednesday.

Press reports quoting government sources said authorities are tallying the minor losses sustained at the airport as a result of the targeting.

The army spokesman said that the attempted drone attack on Khartoum Airport was successfully repelled in the early hours of today and that the drones were shot down before reaching their targets.

Burhan stressed that “the brutal Al-Dagalo gang” will not prevail against our people and that our forces are capable of providing protection and security for the people of Sudan.

“We are determined to eliminate this rebellion and will not allow the rebels to return again,” he said.

The Chairman of the Sovereign Council welcomed sincere efforts that could restore life and peace to the people, and affirmed that the demands they make are unsurprising given the severe harm inflicted on Sudan and its citizens by a group that has caused them suffering.

He added, “We say to this group: shame on you — our people will be victorious, and the eyes of cowards will not sleep.”
