Blue Nile Governor: Region’s Geological Map be Updated

The Governor of Blue Nile Region has directed the General Authority for Geological Research to continue updating the region’s geological map and to promote all available mineral resources.
Following his visit to the Authority’s headquarters on Sunday, The Governor has called for attracting national and foreign partnerships to invest and operate in the region’s mining sector.
For his part, Dr. Salah Al-Sharif, Director of Geological Research in Blue Nile State, has reaffirmed the Authority’s commitment to implementing these directives.
He indicated that the Authority would continue its exploration and map-up activities throughout 2026, in accordance with approved plans.
Dr. Salah noted that the Governor had officially tasked the General Authority for Geological Research with studying two designated geological blocks within the state. He explained that the Authority immediately began coordinating with the central government to determine the required technical and scientific means for conducting the required studies for these blocks.

The governor of the region, accompanied by the Minister of Finance and the Mining Advisor, had made a visit during which they reviewed the technical efforts made in the mining sector. The visit included the Geological Museum of the General Authority for Geological Research, where the delegation viewed models representing the geological diversity and mineral wealth that abounds in the Blue Nile region
