Addis Ababa – Sudanhorizon
The Sudanese civilian forces presently involved in the preparatory meeting for the Berlin Conference on Sudan, held in the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, Sunday, agreed to issue a joint statement calling for an immediate end to the war in Sudan and a commencement of a comprehensive political process leading to a civilian democratic transition.
The statement noted that, in a scene reflecting unity of purpose, political forces and representatives of civil society, along with a select group of experts and national figures, convened under one roof, embodying the importance of Sudanese-Sudanese stand as a fundamental approach to confronting current challenges. This participation affirmed that achieving lasting peace and reaching political stability requires the integration of roles and the recognition of the importance of each party as an active partner in building Sudan’s future.
It is worth noting that the forces participating in the preparatory meeting in Addis Ababa included the “Sumud” group, a number of party and independent figures, and representatives of the “National Bloc” led by Mohamed Sayed Ahmed Al-Jakoumi. Meanwhile, the “Democratic Bloc” and the “National Movement” bloc, led by Dr. Al-Tijani Sisi, boycotted the Addis Ababa meetings.
