Banat Power Station Back to Service After Long Outage

Khartoum – Sudanhorizon

The Sudan Electricity Company announced the return of the Banat power substation to service after a long shutdown caused by acts of sabotage committed by the Rapid Support Forces militia.

In a statement issued Friday, the company described the step as an important achievement that will enhance electricity supplies for wide sectors of Khartoum State.

The announcement came during a ceremony attended by Engineer Advisor Abdullah Ahmed Mohamed, Director General of the Sudan Electricity Holding Company; Engineer Yasser Mohamed Al-Shazly, Director General of the Sudanese Electricity Transmission Company; along with a number of department directors, engineers, technicians, and workers.

The statement noted that the station’s return was made possible through tireless and continuous efforts by maintenance and operations engineers and technicians, who rehabilitated the transmission line (Al-Jumouiya – Banat), enabling the station to resume operation at full capacity.

The company expected that the reactivation of the station will have a significant impact on providing electricity to multiple areas in Khartoum State, including residential, industrial, and agricultural sectors, contributing to stabilizing daily life and supporting economic activity in the capital.
