AU and IGAD Held Productive Meeting, including ways to Help Resolve Challenges Facing Sudan

IGAD executive secretary, Dr. Workneh Gebeyehu, has held productive meeting today with the Chairperson of the African Union, Mahmoud Ali Yousif

In a statement he published on his X platform account, Gebeyehu, underlined that their exchange focused on strengthening AU–REC coordination, with IGAD reaffirming its role as Chair of the Inter-REC Coordination Platform.

‘’We emphasised the critical role of RECs as the building blocks of the African Union. ’He said.

He added that they have addressed the conflict in Sudan and other pressing peace and security challenges of the Region were ‘’agreed on actionable measures to coordinate our efforts to address the challenges.’’
