The official spokesperson for the Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) on Thursday announced that the army and its supporting forces have liberated the city of Bara in North Kordofan State.
According to a press statement, the victory came after heroic battles in which the terrorist militia of the Dagalo clan sustained heavy losses in lives and equipment, forcing them to flee and abandon their vehicles and equipment on the battlefield.
The statement affirmed that SAF are steadily continuing the “war of dignity,” fulfilling their oath and commitment to the Sudanese people that this militia will not have a foothold in the Sudan. It emphasized that this victory represents a new step towards decisively cleansing the entire homeland of the “filth of the thugs and collaborators.”
The army had previously managed to seize control of Bara in September 2025, expelling the militia that had held the strategic city since the early months of the war. However, after about a month, the army troops pulled out of the city before retaking it today.
For his part, the Governor of Darfur, who also serves as the General Supervisor of the Joint Force, stated on the “X” platform, that “Our heroes from the Joint Force are once again inside the city of Bara on this blessed day, the 16th of Ramadan. We congratulate the Sudanese people on this progress and victory, which instills hope in their hearts.”
He emphasized that the Armed Forces and the Joint Force are demonstrating courage and resilience, affirming that “the will of the Sudanese people to defend their land and dignity will not be broken.”
He added that in Umm Kridim, “our heroes stand on the front lines, facing the Janjaweed with steadfastness and determination in defense of their people and their land. This is a difficult path, but it is the path of righteousness, and with patience and perseverance, we will prevail.”
