The Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, delivered a comprehensive speech at the emergency Arab Summit hosted by Cairo yesterday afternoon (Tuesday). He addressed several issues on the summit’s agenda and at the national level, praising Egypt’s initiative to call for the emergency Arab Summit in support of the Palestinian cause.
Sudan’s Position on the Palestinian Cause
The Chairman of the Sovereignty Council affirmed before the summit that Sudan will remain steadfast in its unwavering support for the Palestinian people in their quest to establish an independent state based on the borders of June 4, 1967, with East Jerusalem as its capital. He reiterated Sudan’s categorical rejection of any schemes aimed at displacing the Palestinian people from their land.
He emphasized the necessity of a firm and unified Arab stance in rejecting any attempts to uproot the Palestinians from their homeland.
He stressed that defending the Palestinian cause is a shared responsibility that must not be abandoned, and from this standpoint, he called for enhancing the ability to confront common challenges.
Al-Burhan affirmed that Sudan will always remain at the forefront of defending the Palestinian cause, steadfast in its principles and committed to safeguarding the nation’s issues and protecting its interests.
The Chairman of the Sovereignty Council announced Sudan’s full support for the Egyptian-Arab initiative aimed at rebuilding Gaza without displacing its population.
Developments in Sudan
Regarding the developments in Sudan, General Al-Burhan pointed out that the rebels have been expelled from vast areas of the country, and the legitimate Sudanese army, supported by its people, is working to eliminate the rebels in the remaining regions.
In his speech, Al-Burhan highlighted the destruction, devastation, and terrorism committed by the rebel Rapid Support Forces (RSF) militia, which is supported by regional countries and foreign mercenaries.
He added that the militia has committed various violations and crimes against citizens and infrastructure, continuing its miserable scheme to subjugate the nation with the colonial ambitions of its regional sponsors and supporters.
He reiterated the Sudanese Armed Forces’ determination, backed by the support and solidarity of the Sudanese people, to confront what he described as “delusions” that the Sudanese people will completely eradicate.
Roadmap
Regarding the political crisis in his country, the Chairman of the Sudanese Sovereignty Council stated that they have proposed a roadmap for civil and constitutional transition, which includes an agreement on national constants.
In his speech at the emergency Arab Summit, he pointed out that the roadmap put forward by the Sudanese government calls for an inclusive Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue that excludes no one, ensuring the participation of all national factions in shaping the country’s future and paving the way for free and fair elections.
Conditions for a Ceasefire
The Chairman of the Sovereignty Council reiterated the readiness to implement an immediate cessation of military operations, provided that the rebel RSF militia withdraws from the areas it occupies, lifts the siege on El Fasher and other cities in Darfur, and gathers in designated areas in preparation for disarmament and military resolution.
Al-Burhan concluded his speech by commending and appreciating the Sudanese people and the countries and governments that have consistently supported Sudan and its people. He specifically thanked Sudan’s Arab brothers, who have always supported Sudan’s unity, legitimate national institutions, and the Arab League.
He expressed gratitude to all who have stood in solidarity with Sudan against what he described as the ongoing conspiracy to divide and destroy Sudan.
