Al-Burhan Urges Tribal Chiefs To Contain Tribal Clashes in Western Sudan

The Chairman of the Transitional Sovereign Council, Lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, was briefed on the recent developments that occurred in the Tina and Karnoi areas, which claimed the lives of several people.
In a meeting held on Thursday in Port Sudan with a delegation from the Zaghawa Tribal Shura Council, Omar Suleiman Adam, the delegation’s spokesman, explained in a press statement that the Chairman of the Sovereign Council has directed the native administration and the Shura Council to take urgent action to contain this challenge.
He affirmed the state’s resolve to extend its authority and enforce the rule of law, highlighting the role of community leaders in achieving coexistence among the various social components.
He explained that the meeting also addressed the siege of El Fasher and the efforts made by the Zaghawa Shura Council to help out. He stated that the two groups have been separated and military reinforcements have been dispatched to establish security and stability in the areas.
