New York – Sudanhorizon
The Chairman of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, has arrived in New York to lead the Sudanese delegation participating in the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly.
General al-Burhan is scheduled to deliver Sudan’s address to the General Assembly tomorrow (Thursday), according to Eastern U.S. time.
Diplomatic sources close to the Sudanese delegation informed “Al-Muhaqiq” that during his participation, the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council will hold meetings on the sidelines with several heads of state and governments from around the world, including the presidents of Turkey, Iran, the Emir of Qatar, and the foreign ministers of Russia and China, as well as a number of African leaders.
Additionally, General al-Burhan will meet with representatives from various international and regional organizations, including the UN Secretary-General, to discuss avenues for bilateral cooperation and the role of multilateral collaboration within the UN framework to build a more stable future.
The sources anticipate that these meetings will address the latest developments in Sudan and plans for the reconstruction of areas devastated by the war, as well as Sudan’s efforts to end the conflict in light of the Rapid Support Forces militia’s repeated attempts to besiege cities and attack civilians in markets and hospitals.
It is worth noting that over the course of a week, around 150 heads of state, government officials, and high-ranking representatives from across the globe will deliver their speeches at this annual gathering, which captures the world’s attention.
