The Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces, lieutenant General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, has pledged to exact retribution for the people of El Fasher, achieve victory over the militias, and turn the tables by reclaiming all the land “defiled by those traitors.”
In a brief speech Monday evening, in his first comment on the fall of El Fasher, Burhan said that the command in the field, including the security committee, decided to leave the city after it was subjected to systematic destruction and killing of civilians.
He added, “We agreed with them to leave the city and go to a safe place to spare the rest of the citizens and the rest of the city from destruction.”
Al-Burhan said he considered this step “a milestone in the military operations imposed on us as a Sudanese people.”
He continued, “We always say and repeat that the Sudanese people will be victorious, and the Sudanese Armed Forces will be victorious because they are supported by the people, and this war will be decided in favor of the Sudanese people.”
Al-Burhan affirmed his determination to exact retribution on the people of El Fasher for all the crimes committed previously across Sudan in full view of the world, including violations of Security Council resolutions, “all international norms are now being violated without anyone speaking up or being held accountable.”
He continued, “We, as the Sudanese people, will hold these criminals accountable. We, as Sudanese, will exact retribution on behalf of our people who have been wronged and harmed by this treacherous, hostile hands, hands that do not belong to the Sudanese people.”
Al-Burhan reiterated his pledge to achieve victory after victory, saying, “These are experiences we have had recently in this war: we can turn the tables every time and we can restore every land desecrated by these traitors to the bosom of the homeland.”
He added, “We affirm that we are capable and we affirm that we are determined to continue until we cleanse this land of every filth and every impurity and eliminate these mercenary, hired killers.”
