The Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, stated in his address after the consultations of national political and societal forces on mapping out a roadmap for the Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue and achieving peace and political consensus (Saturday) that this gathering and presence of national political and societal forces should be taken seriously, with their recommendations and outcomes used to complete the transitional period. He emphasised that these forces would be an integral part of the complete victory to be achieved across all of Sudan.
The Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council paid tribute to the martyrs of Sudan who sacrificed their lives for the nation, including the martyrs of the Battle of Dignity.
Al-Burhan pointed out the steadfast support of the Sudanese people for the armed forces despite the hardships they faced during the war. He stated that the armed forces would not have been able to achieve what they did without the people’s support. He praised the armed forces, other regular forces, joint forces, and the mobilised individuals from various groups who played a major role in the resilience of the armed forces.
According to a statement published by the Transitional Sovereignty Council’s media, Al-Burhan highlighted the role of national political and societal forces that stood by the armed forces and supported them in the Battle of Dignity. He added, “We stand in appreciation and reverence for all those who supported the army with their money, pens, and efforts.” He stressed the need to learn from this war to build a state that differs from what existed before.
His Excellency clarified that the door remains open to anyone who takes a national stance, adding, “We welcome anyone who has laid down their arms from the aggressors and joined the national ranks.”
General Al-Burhan directed the relevant passport authorities not to prevent any Sudanese citizen from obtaining a passport or identification documents, emphasising, “We do not oppose people because of their opinions. Everyone has the right to speak against and criticise the system, but no one has the right to destroy the nation or undermine its constants.”
Al-Burhan stated, “We want this dialogue to be inclusive of all political and societal forces.” He added that the upcoming period will witness the formation of a government to complete the transition’s tasks. He noted that this government could be called a caretaker government or a war government, with its purpose being to assist the state in completing the remaining military tasks, namely cleansing all of Sudan of these rebels. He clarified that the government will be composed of independent national competencies.
Al-Burhan sent a message to the National Congress urging them to avoid political outbidding and adding that if the National Congress wishes to rule, it must compete with other political forces in the future.
The Chairman of the Sovereignty Council affirmed his determination to move forward in building a Sudanese state that will be significant in the future.
Al-Burhan stated that after the constitutional document is approved, a prime minister will be selected to carry out his duties in managing the executive branch of the state without any interference.
Al-Burhan reiterated that there will be no negotiations with the rebels, and if the rebels lay down their weapons and vacate the homes of citizens and civilian notables, then we can talk to them. He added, “Some have offered us a ceasefire during Ramadan to facilitate the delivery of aid to El Fasher,” but we emphasised that we will not accept a ceasefire under the siege imposed by the terrorist Rapid Support Forces militia on the city.
He stated that a ceasefire must be followed by a withdrawal from Khartoum, West Kordofan, the Darfur states and the gathering of forces in designated centres.
