Al-Burhan Meets with Tribal Chiefs from Eastern Sudan

On Wednesday, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, Chairman of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, met with a delegation of tribes from Eastern Sudan, representing the Red Sea and Kassala states. The meeting was attended by Lieutenant General Mustafa Mohamed Nour, Governor of the Red Sea State.
The discussions focused on the security, service, and humanitarian conditions in Eastern Sudan and the role of civil society in supporting national issues and fostering unity to overcome the country’s challenges.
In a press statement, Governor Mustafa Mohamed Nour said the delegation extended congratulations to the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council and the Sudanese people on the occasion of the 69th anniversary of independence. The delegation also reaffirmed their support for the Armed Forces in their battle for dignity and pride against the terrorist militia of the Al-Dagalo family.
The governor noted that the delegation unequivocally rejected hate speech and emphasized the importance of national unity in addressing the country’s challenges. They called for collective efforts to ensure stability, achieve desired development, and provide essential services to the citizens of Eastern Sudan.
General Al-Burhan thanked the delegation for standing united behind the Armed Forces to safeguard Sudan’s unity and stability. He also reiterated his support for addressing the issues facing Eastern Sudan.
Statement from Tribal Leader Mohamed Al-Amin Tirik
Mohamed Al-Amin Tirik, Chief of the Hadendoa Tribes, speaking on behalf of the Eastern Sudan tribal delegation, extended heartfelt congratulations to the Chairman of the Sovereignty Council and the Sudanese people on the occasion of independence. He praised the Armed Forces for their commitment to safeguarding the nation’s achievements, stability, and territorial integrity.
Tirik highlighted that the meeting was part of a roadmap to promote national unity in Eastern Sudan, aiming to achieve security, stability, and peace across the country.
He affirmed to the Chairman their unwavering support for the government and full backing of the Armed Forces, condemning the actions and violations perpetrated by the terrorist militia against innocent civilians and the destruction of state institutions. Tirik rejected any equivalence between the Armed Forces, fulfilling their national duty to preserve the state’s sovereignty, and the terrorist militia seeking to destroy Sudan and commit heinous crimes.
He also announced the rejection by tribal leadership in the Red Sea and Kassala states of foreign interference in Sudanese affairs under the guise of humanitarian aid. Tirik pointed out the abundant resources Sudan possesses to address its internal challenges.
