Al-Burhan Delivers Sudan’s Speech at the 80th Session of the UN General Assembly

New York – Sudanhorizon

The Chairman of the Transitional Sovereignty Council, Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, will deliver Sudan’s speech at the meetings of the United Nations General Assembly in New York on Thursday, September 25. This is according to the preliminary list of speakers before the UN General Assembly at its 80th annual session, which will begin on September 9. The Assembly’s halls will also host high-level meetings starting from September 23 until September 27, with the session concluding on September 29.

Sudanhorizon has learned that the Permanent Mission in New York has completed the arrangements and preparations for Sudan’s delegation to participate in all the events of the meetings at their various levels. A diplomatic source told Sudanhorizon that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, in coordination with the concerned embassies and other relevant parties in the country, has completed preparing the files related to Sudan’s agenda, in addition to thorough preparation for Sudan’s speech.

The Permanent Mission in New York has also received a number of requests for meetings between participating officials and their counterparts, as well as with officials from international institutions.

Sources expected that Sudan’s participation in these meetings will carry particular significance, given the sensitive situation the country is experiencing under the humanitarian crisis caused by the continuous crimes and violations committed by the Rapid Support Forces militia, including its siege of some cities and the obstruction of humanitarian aid from reaching those in need.
