Al-Burhan Affirms Desire to Make Peace in Line with the Aspirations of the Sudanese People

The Chairman of the Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah Al-Burhan, affirmed the government’s commitment to cooperating with the United Nations, noting that it is keen to achieve peace in accordance with the aspirations of the Sudanese people.

Al-Burhan met on Sunday with the Personal Envoy of the UN Secretary-General, Ramtane Lamamra, in the presence of Foreign Minister Muhiuddin Salem.

According to the Sovereignty Council’s media office, Al-Burhan reiterated the Sudanese government’s readiness to engage with the United Nations and all its agencies operating in Sudan, to achieve the desired objectives across humanitarian, developmental, social, and other fields.

He stated that the Government of Sudan welcomes the UN Secretary-General’s efforts and his personal interest in the Sudanese peace file, praising Lamamra’s efforts to advance peace in Sudan. He further emphasised that the government seeks to realise peace throughout the country in a manner that meets the expectations of the Sudanese people.
