Al-Bashir’s Family:Urgent Need for Overseas Medical Treatment
Khartoum –Sudanhorizon
The family of former President Field Marshal Omar al-Bashir stated that medical reports and developments in his health condition confirm an urgent and critical need for medical treatment outside Sudan—a matter that should not be delayed any further.
On Tuesday, al-Bashir was transferred from the city of Merowe, where he had been undergoing treatment, to Alia Hospital in Omdurman, following a medical recommendation.
In a statement issued on Wednesday, al-Bashir’s family confirmed that, to date, they have received no notification from any official authority approving Field Marshal al-Bashir’s travel abroad for medical treatment.
The family explained that they have consistently appealed to the country’s top leadership to release Field Marshal Omar al-Bashir and end his detention—which is now entering its eighth year—yet these appeals have met with no official response.
They added: “In light of developments regarding his health, the family renews its appeal to the Chairman of the Transitional Sovereign Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Sudanese Armed Forces, General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan. They hope that their persistent appeals will finally be favorably received and considered within the context of the health and humanitarian circumstances facing Field Marshal Omar al-Bashir.”
