Agricultural Bank Allocates 105 Billion Pounds to Finance Wheat and Cotton for the Upcoming Season

The Director of the Agricultural Bank, Salah Abdel Rahim, announced the allocation of 105 billion Sudanese pounds to finance the cultivation of wheat and cotton for the upcoming season, in addition to funding small projects and the construction of grain silos in Al-Jazira State.

During his visit to the state, he affirmed the bank’s readiness to meet financing needs through its 14 branches spread across Al-Jazira.

Abdel Rahim stressed the importance of maximizing the added value of agricultural products and encouraging small industries. He called for the adoption of a scientific vision to revive the Gezira Project by integrating livestock production into the agricultural cycle and adhering to modern technologies and technical standards, noting that the success of agriculture in Al-Jazira represents success for Sudan as a whole.

For his part, the Governor of Al-Jazira State, Al-Tahir Ibrahim Al-Khair, called on the Agricultural Bank to expand financing for the horticultural sector and the Gezira Project. In the same context, Minister of Finance Atef Mohamed Ibrahim affirmed his ministry’s determination to strengthen partnerships with the bank.

Meanwhile, the Director General of the Ministry of Production and Economic Resources and Acting Minister, Dr. Arafah Mahmoud, praised the bank’s role in supporting production, calling for an increase in the financing ceiling for producers.

Additionally, the Director of the Gezira Microfinance Institution, Adlan Abdel Rahim, revealed that the institution is moving toward financing solar energy systems along the Nile corridor and supporting youth-led projects.
