After Placing Sudan in the Red List: Will Sudanese Officials Enter the USA?

Sudanhorizon – Mariam Abashar
Highly informed sources have confirmed that the red ban list issued by the Trump administration against a number of countries, including the Sudan, will be challenged by international agreements and headquarters agreements, which are binding on the US administration, and require the exception of Sudanese coming to the United States on official missions, whether for the embassy or participating in the activities of the United Nations, the World Bank Group or other international organizations.
Foreseeable Obstacles
However, the same sources did not rule out the return of the US administration to the tactics of disruption and delay to frustrate the access of officials to catch up with the tasks that necessitate their entry to the United States at the specified times, in light of the US administration’s “red list” issued to ban the entry of nationals of a number of countries to the United States, including Sudan, as well as Afghanistan, Syria, Yemen, Libya, Iran and Somalia.
Coloring
According to the sources this coloured list is based on the extent of cooptation in the field of exchange of information and data on individuals within the database relative to the passport carried by the citizens of those specific countries, including the Sudan, is it expected that, based on follow up information, that the administration may freeze the annual American migration program known as the Lottery this year and it may even cancel the already granted visas, a situation similar to what the Trump administration did during its first tenure.
The Lottery at Stake
Based on the red list issued by the Trump Administration regarding a number of countries, including the Sudan, it is expected that the administration would freeze the American annual migration program known as the lottery and it is expected that this would include all those who won the lottery for this year which means their visas would be revoked as happened during the first Trump tenure.
The counter denial
It is to be recalled that Sudanese nationals who entered the USA prior to the publication of the list, have been granted the special protection status while those who are still outside the United States would be barred from entering the country
Records show that the United States administration had in the past prevented those with valid visa from entering the country after the publication of the list, at the airport passport counters while they were on the way to enter the country.
Postponement for this reason
According to the follow-up by Sudanhorizon the decision of the red list was supposed to be signed by President Trump along with the set of executive orders that he had signed the first day he entered the White House, but the decision was postponed for further detail and scrutiny.
The list restricting entry into the United States of America includes 43 countries and ranges between red, orange and yellow, depending on procedures ranging from prevention and delay in processing visa applications by six months and other types of delays.
