Acting Chargé d’Affaires in Australia Gives Briefings on Developments in Sudan

Canberra – Sudahorizon
Mr Ahmed Salah Bayoumi, Acting Chargé d’Affaires of the Embassy of Sudan in Australia, met on Friday with Mr Tim van de Molen, Chair of the Foreign Affairs, Defence and Trade Committee in the New Zealand Parliament, at the premises of the New Zealand Embassy in Australia.
During the meeting, the Acting Chargé d’Affaires outlined the developments in Sudan since the outbreak of the Rapid Support Forces’ terrorist rebellion against the state in April 2023, as well as the latest events, violations, and atrocities committed by the terrorist militia—including ethnic cleansing and genocide against unarmed civilians with the support of the United Arab Emirates. He called on the New Zealand Parliament and government to designate the rebel Rapid Support Forces as a terrorist organisation and to exert further pressure on the UAE to halt the flow of external support to the militia.
For his part, the Chair of the Foreign Affairs Committee in the New Zealand Parliament expressed New Zealand’s condemnation of all forms of violations against civilians and its call for investigations into acts of genocide. He affirmed that New Zealand completely rejects the formation of any parallel government in Sudan and supports the country’s unity and territorial integrity. He also pledged to provide a package of urgent humanitarian assistance.
It is noteworthy that New Zealand has provided USD 5 million in humanitarian aid since the beginning of the militia’s terrorist rebellion.
