General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, Chairman of Sudan’s Transitional Sovereignty Council and Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces conveyed Sudan’s appreciation for Qatar’s steadfast support on international and regional stages, its commitment to Sudan’s sovereignty, unity, and stability, and its ongoing humanitarian assistance to war-affected communities.
The remarks came during his meeting on Thursday with Qatari Minister of State for International Cooperation Lolwah bint Rashid Al Khater and her accompanying delegation.
Solidarity and Assessment
In a press briefing, Ambassador Hussein Amin, Sudan’s Deputy Foreign Minister, stated that the Qatari delegation delivered a message of solidarity from Qatar’s leadership and people, acknowledging Sudan’s crisis and its humanitarian toll—particularly on women and children.
The delegation’s visit includes field assessments of displacement camps and sites devastated by the rebel militia’s violence, alongside bilateral meetings with Sudanese ministers of health and social welfare.
Qatar’s Pledge
Minister Al Khater emphasized that the visit aims to evaluate Sudan’s humanitarian crisis and address urgent needs amid collapsed health and education systems and destroyed infrastructure.
She reiterated Qatar’s unwavering commitment to Sudan, expressing concern over deteriorating humanitarian, economic, and social conditions, and stressed the need to prioritize Sudan’s unity and stability.
Tangible Support
The minister highlighted Qatar’s $86 million allocation for Sudan’s urgent needs, including:
$10 million for initiatives supporting women in conflict zones (psychosocial and economic empowerment).
A second batch of ambulances and dialysis equipment for healthcare.
An air bridge established in 2023 to deliver aid and evacuate Sudanese residents in Qatar.
She praised international partners’ efforts and called for enhanced cooperation to alleviate suffering and achieve peace.
