The 3rd edition of the Conference on Supporting Peace and Reconstruction in Sudan will be held in Berlin, Germany, on April 15th, as part of ongoing international efforts to address the Sudanese crisis on both the political and humanitarian levels.

Informed sources told Sudanhorizon News website that invitations to the conference have been extended to approximately 40 figures representing political blocs and parties, as well as civil society organizations and independent figures from across the Sudanese spectrum. The sources explained that a preparatory meeting is expected to precede the conference in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, from April 10th to 12th, under the auspices of the five-party mechanism comprising the African Union, the United Nations, the European Union, the Arab League, and the Intergovernmental Authority on Development (IGAD).

According to the sources, the preparatory meeting aims to form a committee of conference participants to manage the Sudanese-Sudanese dialogue, paving the way for more structured discussions during the Berlin conference.

The sources pointed to disagreements regarding the format of the invitations and the list of participants, noting that some political forces were not invited, including the Popular Congress Party faction led by Amin Mahmoud, along with other parties. They added that invitations were distributed as follows: four each to the Democratic Bloc, the Sumud Group, and the National Forces Coordination Committee, in addition to one each to the Communist Party and the Ba’ath Party led by Al-Rayah Al-Sanhouri. Invitations were also extended to independent figures and parties affiliated with the Sumud Group. The sources clarified that the final details remain unclear.

It is worth noting that the first edition of the conference was held in Paris, France, on April 15, 2024, under the title “International Humanitarian Conference for Sudan and Neighboring Countries,” jointly organized by France, Germany, and the European Union, and had focused on humanitarian issues. The second edition was held in London on April 15, 2025, under the title “London Conference on Sudan”, organized by Britain, France, Germany and the African Union, and resulted in pledges of about 800 million euros to support Sudan, but these pledges have not yet been met.
