19,000 Students to Sit for Sudan High School Certificate Exam

The Nile River State has completed preparations for hosting the Sudan School Certificate exams for the second consecutive year, set to take place tomorrow, Sunday.

The Minister of Education in the State, Ahmed Hamid Yasin, announced that more than 19,000 students will sit for the exam across the country, noting that the final figure is not yet complete as registration for late students is still open until Friday evening.

Yasin stated that 177 examination centers have been prepared including 170 for students of the state, along with 4 centers designated for Darfur students, who total 453 students.

He said two centers have been allocated for female students in Damer and two for male students in Atbara, in addition to housing and sustenance arrangements for all.

The Minister of Education also confirmed that all examination papers were delivered under full security to warehouses in the localities and from there to the examination centers within and outside the state, adding that the higher committee responsible for monitoring and supervising the examinations, which includes not only the security agencies but also the Ministry of Health and Social Welfare and all relevant bodies, has completed all tasks and preparations as required.

He added that robust security arrangements have been put in place around the centers and examination halls, in addition to accommodations and food for the incoming students.

The minister revealed that senior and distinguished teachers have been assigned to important and difficult subjects, and direct communication lines have been opened for students to contact them to facilitate and clarify any difficulties students may have regarding the subjects.

He stated that the examination committee has also designated two centers for late students in the city of Dongola to catch up and register for the exam, noting that these centers have received some incoming students wishing to sit for the exam as of yesterday, while some are still arriving in the state to register. Additionally, he said, another center was designated for students in emergency situations in the Hadiba area of Dongola for students and for the students who had were involved in the defense operations to defend their homeland.
